Sky 3D to Launch with Manchester United vs. Chelsea on Saturday 3rd April

BSkyB (LSE:BSY) has confirmed that it will launch Sky 3D, Europe’s first 3D TV channel, with the Barclays Premier League clash between Manchester United and Chelsea on Saturday 3rd April.

CRTC releases results for Canadian broadcasting distributors

Canada's CRTC has released summaries for Canadian broadcasting distribution. At end-2009, the number of households obtaining basic TV service from a cable company was 8.1 million. The equivalent number for DTH and MDS was 2.8 million.

Satellite Service to Deliver Digital TV Australia-wide

Cyfrowy Polsat adds 286k subscribers in 4Q09

Cyfrowy Polsat (Warsaw: CPS) has released its report for the fiscal year ended 31 December 2009. As at 31 December 2009 Polsat's subscriber base of pay packages reached 3,202,319, an increase of 475,326 compared to 31 December 2008.

SES ASTRA (Paris, LuxX: SESG) has announced that for the first time satellite reaches more households than cable in Europe, with 77 million satellite and 71 million cable households. Terrestrial infrastructures reach 86.5 million households.

CSA reports on digital TV in France for 2H09

France's Conseil supérieur de l’audiovisuel (CSA) has reported latest results from its survey on the penetration of digital TV in French households. Nearly eight in ten households (78.4%) now have at least one TV with digital TV reception.

Technicolor to provide HD set-top boxes to TV Globo for digital viewing in Brazil
